About Hypnosis
The misconception and impression that many people hold is that hypnosis is something magical, mystical and often dangerous. Hypnosis has even been portrayed by some, as a scary form of mind control, where people are made to give up control of themselves. Hypnosis is in fact the complete opposite, as people visit hypnotherapists or use self-hypnosis because they want to gain more control over their lives, not less.
•you will not be unconscious,
•you will not lose control of your faculties;
•you will not do things that you are unwilling to do.
- Hypnosis is 100% safe - you are aware, in control and can terminate the session at any time should you choose to.
Hypnosis is used all over the world in areas such as dentistry, childbirth, surgery, pain management, phobias, smoking cessation, weight loss etc.
- When a person is under hypnosis, it feels like a wonderfully deep relaxation, except that the subconscious mind is very alert. The person may feel heavy or light, as though they were floating etc. Whatever the sensations experienced by the person they are always wonderfully relaxing and therapeutic.
- Hypnosis is a very natural state that everybody goes into at least twice a day. On waking, and going off to sleep we go through the alpha state, which is the state of hypnosis. All a person needs to do to enter hypnosis is to relax and follow the hypnotherapist’s instructions.
When having your baby with HypnoBirthing®, what you will experience is similar to the day dreaming or focusing that occurs when you are engrossed in a book or staring at a fire. You will be conversant and in good spirits, whilst totally relaxed. You will be aware of your body’s contractions and will be able to determine the extent to which you feel the surge. You will experience your baby’s birth in an atmosphere of calm and relaxation, without the fear and tension that cause pain. Your body’s natural anaesthesia (endorphins) will replace the stress hormones that create pain.
